Flute

Jeff Harley has a rich and diverse career as a professional flutist. He has performed with the Erie Philharmonic as guest Principal Flute, Wheeling Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Opera, Canton Symphony Orchestra, the The festival opens with a dialogue between two of Bach’s most beloved voices: the grandeur of the organ and the intimacy of the cello. Organist Aaron Tan and cellist Ignacy Gaydamovich bring out Bach’s genius for both invention and emotion. From the pastoral charm of the Pastorella in F to the noble St. Anne Prelude and Fugue, audiences will hear Bach at his most majestic. Paired with the luminous Cello Suite in G major—a work whose opening prelude has become an icon of classical music—this program reveals Bach’s extraordinary range, from contemplative chorale settings to dazzling virtuosity. Symphony Orchestra, and Black Diamond Philharmonic.  He is also a returning musician of the Viva Bach Peterborough Festival in Peterborough, NH. Jeff has earned artistic recognition, including a 2nd prize at the San Francisco Flute Society Solo Competition in 2019 and 2nd place at the Auburn Symphony Young Artist Competition in 2016. Jeff has the honor of being a Haynes Young Artist which he was invited to join the esteemed roster in 2023. Teaching is also a passion for him, as he nurtures students of all levels in his private flute studio.
Jeff's academic journey led him to graduate from Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Music where he earned his Master of Music in Flute Performance under the guidance of Alberto Almarza. Prior to that, he completed his Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from California State University, Long Beach, studying with Dr. John Barcellona. Additional teachers he has studied with included Tom Candlish, Laurel Zucker, and Diana Morgan.​
Jeff adores playing on his Custom 14k gold Haynes flute with a 19.5k gold N cut headjoint, and a Burkart Elite piccolo featuring a Keefe Traditional headjoint.
